Automatic pallet manufacturing with industrial robots

The Robotic Pallet Nailing Machine uses the power of industrial robots to perform the fully automatic pallet nailing and stacking process quickly, repeatably, and with high quality.

With the machine’s two-station structure, while the robot is performing the nailing operation at one station, the operator is arranging the boards at the other station. In this way, shift time is used efficiently, and production cycle times are reduced.

Pallets that have had nails driven into them are picked up by the robot and automatically stacked.

CMM-ROBOPN eliminates the need for operators to manually carry and stack heavy wooden pallets, as well as the heavy labor and occupational accident risks in the pallet nailing process, through the use of a pallet nailing robot. Moreover, no special training background is required to use ROBOPN. All pallet prescriptions are set in an easy-to-use interface and saved and loaded for later use.

With the machine’s easy template change feature, the turnaround between pallet types is less than 3 minutes.

The most significant benefit that industrial robots offer in pallet production is endless flexibility. The pallet nailing robot, capable of easily processing and programming pallets of every type, wood arrangement, and nailing regions, is far ahead of its competitors in the industry with this feature.

Details

Nailing Head

The nailing head has 1, 2, or 4 nail guns depending on the production capacity. The guns are fed with specially manufactured magazines, and the approximate nail storage capacity is 1000.

Together with sensors on the magazine, the gun’s nailing process is controlled, and when the nails run out, the robot automatically moves to a position where the operator can easily refill the nails.

With a specially designed gun spacing template for each pallet type, the simultaneous use of all 4 guns in pallet production is facilitated, and production cycle times are shortened. This feature is particularly observed to lead to significant improvements in the quantity of pallet production at the end of a shift.

Wide Pallet Type Range

The machine is compatible with all EPAL, TURPAL, and many custom pallet types. For standard pallet types like EPAL, programming can be done through the HMI panel without the need for specialized robot programming knowledge, and the programmed values are stored indefinitely with high recipe capacity.

Additionally, the machine offers easy and quick type changes with specially designed and manufactured board arrangement fixtures for each pallet type, along with high-quality repeatability.

There are two nail guns for both long and short nails at the end of the robot’s working element.

Furthermore, there are nail bending metals to ensure that nails do not protrude in the nailing areas without cleats.

Automatic Pallet Picking and Stacking

Pallets with completed nailing processes are picked up from the fixture by the robot and stacked in a designated area. With an optional pallet flipping option that can be purchased upon request, pallets can be stacked upside-down.

Additionally, with the optional edge cutting and sealing stations offered, the robot places the pallet into these processes before stacking, and after completion of the process, the pallet is carried to the designated stacking area.
